Rags to Rugs
History of a Fiber Artist
Creating with fiber and fabrics has long been a part of my life.  In the sixties, I sewed clothing for my three children and used
cotton, silk, and wool threads for cross stitch and crewel embroidery.

In the late sixties, I bought an old rug loom and began to recycle wool garments into traditional rag rugs and carpets.  When
colored bed sheets began to show up in thrift shops, I added cotton to my rug palette and created lots of bright cotton rugs and
table mats.

In the seventies, I met a design teacher who introduced me to the art of rug hooking.  I was "hooked", and spent more time rug
hooking.  Over the years, I have hooked many rugs and created wall hangings.  I also continue to weave on my loom.  I show
my work at the county fairs, Missouri State Fair and fine art shows.
